Individual Counselling

Individual therapy is suitable for those clients who wish to explore their feelings in a safe, confidential, therapeutic setting where they can share their feelings with a qualified, experienced counsellor.

Benefits

Individual therapy is more expensive than couple counselling or group counselling as you have your therapist’s undivided attention for the whole session.

Anna will explain the contract with you on the first session. This contract covers Direct Counselling UK’s confidentiality policy, legal obligations, agreed frequency of therapy appointments and number of sessions.

Individual therapy sessions usually last 50 minutes and can be in the form of traditional face-to-face counselling, or the more flexible telephone or online counselling.

Therapeutic Approaches

If you have a particular issue, you may wish to focus solely on this in your session. All of our associate counsellors are experienced in providing Solution Focussed Brief Therapy (SFBT); which enables you to engage in eight sessions of therapy, focusing on issues agreed at the assessment session.

If you are unsure of what you wish to achieve from therapy, you can choose to engage in longer term therapy, where you and your counsellor can agree to review your sessions every six weeks and continue with therapy for as long as you wish.

Once you have registered for individual therapy, Anna will appoint a counsellor who will work with you. All our associate counsellors provide the ‘talking therapy’ and can combine this with a variety of different Humanistic counselling approaches specific to your requirements and needs.
