Couple counselling is suitable for partners or married couples who wish to explore their relationship with each other in a safe, confidential, therapeutic setting.
Benefits
Couple counselling is cheaper than individual counselling, as you will both share the cost of the session between them.
Anna will explain the contract with both of you prior to the first session. This contract covers Direct Counselling UK’s confidentiality policy, legal obligations, agreed frequency of therapy appointments and number of sessions. This contract can also include what you wish to achieve from engaging in therapy – both as a couple and individually; and how confidentiality will be maintained between you.
Therapeutic Approaches
Sessions are usually held with both of you present, which allows you to experience each other in the moment and enables your counsellor to see the interactions between you. Occasionally counselling sessions are held with each of you seperately. This ensures you both have the opportunity to explore your thoughts and feelings fully; without fear of damaging the realtionship between you.
Couple sessions usually last from 1 ½ to 2 hours and clients share the session to discuss their issues in full. Sessions held with just one partner will last 1 hour.
Once you have registered for couple counselling, Anna will appoint a counsellor to you experienced in providing couple and relationship counselling.
