Couple Counselling

Couple counselling is suitable for partners or married couples who wish to explore their relationship with each other in a safe, confidential and therapeutic setting.

Occasionally sessions may be held with only one or the other member of the partnership, whilst other sessions are held with both clients together. This usually gives each client the option of exploring their issue fully and allows them the space to explore with each other how their relationship can improve.

Couple counselling is usually cheaper per individual, as they share the cost of the session between them.

The counsellor explains the contract with the couple on the first session. This contract covers the counsellor’s confidentiality policy, legal obligations, agreed frequency of therapy appointments and number of sessions.

The contract will also include what each client wishes to achieve from engaging in therapy and maintaining confidentiality between them.

Couple sessions usually last from 1 ½ to 2 hours and clients share the session to discuss their issue in full.
